Personal Experiences that provide pupils and staff with a developed empathetic and compassionate understanding of ALN

Learning early

The work of changing mind sets and nourishing positive attitudes towards ALN begins early. Focusing on primary age and upwards, The Inclusion Curriculum gives children the opportunity to learn from the perspective of others, encouraging greater appreciation of the daily difficulties and challenges that their peers may face. This emotional learning allows our team to create better, more inclusive environments within schools, whilst giving young people the skills they need to encourage and support individuals with mental and physical disabilities throughout their learning.

Based in Wrexham, TIC is continuing its ambition to expand and support all schools. Contact TIC today to see how we can further support your school throughout the year! We work in schools throughout Wales and England.

What do our sessions look like?

There are many ways The Inclusion Curriculum works to help children walk a mile in the shoes of others, from physical demonstrations to mental challenges. Through personal experiences, we can help children understand what life can be like without eyesight or hearing, limited mobility, generic physical injury and many other individual needs. The support of TIC enables pupils to think independently when faced with unfamiliar situations, encouraging them to offer inclusion for other people’s needs as well as their own.

Irrespective of the main focus, our sessions are designed to be engaging and immersive, to help pupils get the most from our visit. Furthermore, we also offer various learning resources for schools to use online, so teachers can continue with development long after our visit and throughout the school year! Helping children get the most from their learning

Following the development stages of our business project, we've worked out how to best allow pupils to develop and create an understanding of how to adapt and persevere around different people’s needs and demands.

Through our wide range of specific skill-based sessions, we allow pupils to think independently when faced with situations that show unfamiliarity and change, enabling them to demonstrate support for people’s needs as well as their own.

So, what are the advantages?

  • Create a more inclusive space where children feel free to express themselves, whatever their circumstances

  • Teach pupils invaluable skills that they can take on into their adult lives

  • Promote empathetic and compassionate development for all pupils

  • Build an environment that's understanding of the different needs of others

  • Work to combat preconceptions around disability

  • It helps to improve the lives of those with physical and learning disabilities, and those who may have family members with conditions.
